FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Affordable Training in a Growing Industry

Dallas, TX – June 8, 2010                   - Trained and certified voice writers are needed in a variety of environments – working with the deaf and hard of hearing in college classrooms, webcasting events for business and corporations, and capturing testimony in courtrooms and depositions.
According to the 2010-2011 Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook, job opportunities in these fields are expected to be excellent and are projected to grow 18 percent (faster than average) between 2008 and 2018 for those with certification.  Certification as a voice writer will open doors to careers in court reporting, broadcast captioning, communication access realtime (CART), webcasting, and off-line captioning.
Federal legislation mandating close captioning for new television programming and the Americans with Disabilities Act giving the deaf and hard-of-hearing students the right to request access for classroom translation has also increased the need for qualified and certified real-time translators.

Ardith Spies, who has over 20 years experience in the education industry, has owned and operated Verbatim Careers Institute for over 3 years.  As one of the few voice writer training facilities, VCI keeps overhead costs down which equates to lower tuition costs for the student.  Students will find the learning environment convenient – your own pace, your own schedule, and in the comfort of your own home.  Education that is affordable and accessible in a field that is growing in today’s economy.
Voice writers use high-tech, voice recognition software for speech recognition.  Students are trained in elements which can include court reporting, English grammar skills, document production and word processing, legal, medical, and technical terminology, and proper legal procedure.
Spies’ format is based on monthly tuition payments rather than a standard program cost.  Since the program is skill-based it is difficult to predict the length of time for training.  Depending upon the amount of time the student has to devote to practice and learning the voice recognition process, it is estimated to take 6-12 months to complete the program.  A Certificate of Completion is awarded to those who successfully complete Spies’ program.  Additional certification is required for those entering the field of court reporting.
